Durante la mañana de hoy las nominaciones para los Premios de la Academia 2021 fueron anunciados. Los finalistas en las 23 categorías fueron revelados por los actores Priyanka Chopra Jonas y Nick Jonas a través de una transmisión en vivo global de manera virtual. La edición número 93 de los Premios Oscar se llevará a cabo el domingo, 25 de abril a través del canal ABC.
El filme más reciente del director David Fincher, Mank lideró el campo con 10 nominaciones, incluyendo mejor película, mejor director y mejor actor. Las películas The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal y The Trial of the Chicago 7 consiguieron siete nominaciones cada una.
La cineasta Chloé Zhao se convirtió en la primera mujer de color en conseguir nominación a mejor director por su película Nomadland, mientras que por primera vez en la historia dos mujeres, Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) y Zhao fueron nominadas en la categoría de mejor director.
